Message to Teachers
As educators, we take on the profession to change the world, to make a difference, to build
relationships with young children or young adults in hopes that we have enough influence to
build the leaders of the next generation. It is our intention to watch them grow as we take part in
molding their path along the way. I teach children to discover who they are and develop them
culturally. It is my charge to teach our students the value of cooperation, teamwork, how to
handle success and deal with failure, problem solve, be creative thinkers, and critical thinkers
through curriculum connections. This can be accomplished most easily through project based
learning and performance tasks in which students are able to truly demonstrate mastery,
through practice, adjustments, evaluations, and analysis before presenting or publishing to an
authentic audience. As we know, each of our students learn in different ways, and personalizing
instruction to meet each individual’s need is the key to our children’s success. Implementing
personalized learning plans help cultivate a mutual understanding of student interests and
choices in relation to personal goals. In addition, exposing our children to professional tools to
create and publish authentic tasks are what I strive for in my classroom. It is my hope that
students will one day be creating with tools of their own choice, in a style that feels right to them
followed by publishing and sharing their work with the world. Ideally, the projects that students
design will be created in collaborative groups in conjunction with the learning objectives and the
betterment of our community. As a collaborative network, if we all work together, toward the
same vision, we can achieve the impossible! We must never take what we do for granted. What
we do DOES matter. We are building our future. It is my dream that my passion for teaching
spreads to other educators so that we have a strong network of leaders to care for the next
generation. It starts with us! Thank you for being on my team.
